About Frey

Hi! My name is Frey.

I grew up in an Asian family where handcraft was always part of everyday life. My aunt sewed quilts, knitted sweaters, and made clothes and shoes by hand. I loved watching her work, and before I knew it, I was collecting little scraps of fabric to make clothes for my dolls.

Back then, creating things with my hands made me feel safe, calm, and happy.

But like many of us, I was taught that crafting wasn’t a “real future.” So I followed the path that seemed right: good grades, a stable career, and working hard in the corporate world. Over time, I slowly let go of the things I loved most.

It took more than 20 years, complete burnout, and a long period of struggling with anxiety and depression before I finally asked myself:

What if I stopped everything and simply started over?

In 2021, I left my job and began making things again. Quietly. Slowly. I sewed, knitted, experimented with different materials — and for the first time in years, I felt like myself again.

I wasn’t earning anything at the beginning. But I felt alive.

In 2024, I made a little Hug Cat bag charm just because I loved creating it. Friends asked where it came from, so I shared it on TikTok. Soon, people wanted to bring one home.

That tiny handmade piece became the first product that brought income into my creative journey — and it changed everything.

Through craft fairs, exhibitions, and conversations with customers around the world, I realized something important — handmade goods are not just objects. They carry stories, memories, and the feeling of being cared for.

My design style has grown with me. I still love simplicity, but not the distant kind. I want the things I make to feel gentle, honest, and sometimes a little playful.

A roomy tote with quiet strength.
A tiny charm that makes someone smile.
A small pouch that becomes part of someone’s daily routine.

Over time, my creative journey also led me to another material I deeply love — natural leather.

This became the beginning of One Moss Nook, where I explore timeless leather pieces designed to age beautifully and become more personal with time. While Made by Frey celebrates the softness, colors, and playful spirit of textiles, One Moss Nook is a quieter exploration of leather, craftsmanship, and everyday essentials made to stay with you.

Both are expressions of the same belief: the things we use every day deserve thought, care, and a little bit of soul.

The studio has grown a little too. I’m now joined by a few helping hands, including skilled artisans in my hometown who share the same respect for craftsmanship. I’m still learning every day — from design and production to shipping and all the messy details in between — but I try to keep things slow, stay true to my values, and leave room for joy.

If you’ve read this far — thank you.

Every order, every message, and every kind word keeps this small dream alive. I often include a little gift with your order, just to say:

I see you, and I’m grateful.

Let’s keep building something handmade, warm, and true.
